Core Sustainability is founded and managed by Daniel Montlake MRICS.
Core Sustainability is a bespoke firm of Chartered Surveyors and property energy consultants. We provide cost-effective, innovative solutions for commercial and residential buildings to increase energy efficiency, reduce energy bills and improve the carbon footprint.
With a wealth of experience and knowledge, Core Sustainability offers high quality, sustainable solutions. Daniel Montlake has worked with clients ranging from drinks manufacturer Innocent and commercial property agents Savoy Stewart, to accountants HW Fisher & Company and international audio-visual company Electrosonic.

Daniel Montlake (MRICS)
Daniel started his property career in 1999 after graduating in Estates Management. He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor at West End practice Savoy Stewart and became partner specialising in commercial property investments.
In 2009 Daniel set up VAI Energy with a focus on delivering commercial and residential Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and Land Registry Plans. From 2013 onwards Daniel now offers a broader range of energy services including; EPC Improvement Audits, MEES Advice (Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards) , ESOS, ISO 50001, Energy Audits and Solution reporting, Display Energy Certificates (DECs) and Standard Assessment Procedure (SAPs). He has re-branded the company to be called "Core Sustainability".
Daniel has been involved in a number of significant projects throughout the UK within the commercial and residential property energy sector. He has led a number of prestigious property assignments and dedicated much of 2015 to his role as an ESOS Lead Assessor. The next phase of ESOS is in 2019 and will be a large focus in 2018-2019. Much of 2016- present has been dedicated to providing MEES advice, public and in-house seminars and consultancy to property investors and managing agents to prepare them for 2018 new energy regulations. Daniel's clients include a number of high profile organisations, ranging from hedge funds, banks and professional service providers to food manufacturers and electronics companies.

David Shaw
David joined in 2018 after graduating with a Degree in Business, where he completed a consultancy project looking at Greenhouse Gas Management and more specifically, helping companies to achieve the Investors in the Environment (iiE) accreditation. During his studies, David also achieved a Sustainability in Practice (SiP) certificate. David is currently working on a number of projects including 3D modelling of non-domestic buildings, portfolio analysis and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) strategy. He looks forward to working on ESOS Phase 2 projects later in the year.
